Men's Basketball Falls to Ridgewater

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team fell 67-63 to Ridgewater College on Saturday afternoon in Coon Rapids.

The Golden Rams led 9-5 with 12:33 left in the opening period before Ridgewater used a 9-0 run to take a 14-9 lead with 9:20 to play.

Anoka-Ramsey responded with a 9-0 run of their own with seven points coming from Mahad Haji to retake the lead at 18-14.

The teams would be tied at 22 apiece with 2:27 left in the half, but Ridgewater would knock down three straight three-pointers and add a layup at the end of the half to go up 33-24 at the break.

Ridgewater extended the lead to 12 points, 44-32 with 16:18 to play before Anoka-Ramsey would start to make their move and eventually tie the score 53-53 with 6:20 left.

Edvonte Copeland knocked down back-to-back threes in response to Ridgewater field goals to give Anoka-Ramsey a 59-57 lead with 5:08 to play.

After a Ridgewater three-pointer, Haji would connect on a three of his own to regain the lead 62-60.

But Ridgewater would close the game on a 7-1 run.

The Golden Rams shot 41.9 percent overall, 48.6 percent in the second half.

Ridgewater held a 44-34 edge in rebounds.

Copeland finished with 20 points.

Mamadou Ngom scored 12 points on 6 of 7 from the field.

Haji scored 11 points.

The Golden Rams fall to 14-11 overall, 6-6 in the MCAC Southern Division.

Anoka-Ramsey hosts Western Tech on Wednesday, February 17 at 8:00pm.
