Golden Rams Bounce Back with Big Win over MN West

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team bounced back into the win column with a 92-49 rout of Minnesota West on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams couldn't seem to miss throughout the game in shooting 59.6 percent overall including 12 of 22 (54.5 percent) from the three-point line.

Anoka-Ramsey opened a 15-4 lead after a layup from Edvonte Copeland.

Minnesota West would respond with consecutive three-pointers to pull within 15-10, but a layup from Harley Shear would kick start a 10-0 run to put the Golden Rams ahead 25-10 with 12 minutes left in the half.

Following a Minnesota West field goal the Golden Rams would use a 16-3 run to pull ahead 41-15 at the six minute mark and enter halftime with a 51-26 lead.

The Golden Rams shot 63.3 percent in the first half and forced 14 Bluejay turnovers.

Five straight points from Copeland midway through the second half would open up a 67-37 Golden Ram advantage.

The lead would balloon to 85-41 after a Mamadou Ngom tip-in and the Golden Rams would cruise for the win.

Minnesota West shot just 36.5 percent from the field and committed 24 turnovers leading to 34 Golden Ram points.

Copeland led the scoring with 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting.

Collin Price scored 15 of his 17 points in the first half knocking down five three-pointers.

Shear scored 11 points making 5 of 9 shots from the field.

Tyler Matsen also scored 11 points on 3 of 4 shooting.

Shear, Mahad Haji, and Falmata Tula each recorded five assists on the afternoon.

The Golden Rams improve to 14-9 overall, 6-4 in the MCAC Southern Division.

Anoka-Ramsey will travel to Rochester to take on Division-leading Rochester Community and Technical College Wednesday, February 10 at 8:00pm.  The Golden Rams gave the Yellowjackets their only conference loss with a 89-87 win back on January 16.
