Anoka-Ramsey Community College has announced the hiring of Shelby Zimmel as Head Coach of the Women's Soccer program.
Zimmel is a former student-athlete at Anoka-Ramsey who participated in both soccer and basketball.
A Coon Rapids native, Coach Zimmel attended Coon Rapids High School and grew up close to the Anoka-Ramsey campus. After her days as a Golden Ram concluded, Zimmel attended Presentation College in South Dakota where she participated on the women's soccer team, and earned a degree in social work. She most recently helped coach basketball and soccer at Anoka High School.
"We are excited to welcome Shelby back to Anoka-Ramsey and the women's soccer program," said Jessica Pelzel, Director of Athletics. "Her passion for Anoka-Ramsey and what it meant to her personally will be an asset as she leads the program she once played for."
Said Zimmel, "I am a proud alum of Anoka-Ramsey and built a lifelong connection to the college while being a student-athlete. I'm excited to come back and coach, and cannot wait for the future. Go Rams!"
Anoka-Ramsey was the NJCAA Region XIII Runner-up in 2024.
