Slow Start, Fast Finish for Women's Basketball in Win over Warriors

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team was tied 14-14 after the first quarter with Ridgewater, but turned it on over the second and third quarters to win 65-39 on Wednesday evening.

With the score tied 18-18, the Golden Rams used an 8-0 run to provide some cushion and led by nine at halftime.

The third quarter saw Anoka-Ramsey score the first six points, and after a Warrior three, the Golden Rams went on a 19-4 run to end the period.

The lead extended to as much as 33 in the fourth quarter as Anoka-Ramsey won going away.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 35.4 percent overall, and just 1 of 24 from three, but held Ridgewater to only 21.4 percent shooting and forced 24 turnovers.

Demaiyah Hill scored 22 point making 11 of 19 field goals.

Hailey Babcock scored 11 points, and Mikayla Kanenwisher tallied ten points, nine rebounds, and nine steals to narrowly miss a triple-double.

Piper Flemming hauled in a team-high ten rebounds and blocked six shots.

The Golden Rams improve to 11-2 overall, 2-1 in the MCAC and host conference rival Minnesota West on Sunday, January 16 at 1:00pm.
