Women's Basketball Remains Undefeated with Weekend Sweep

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team ran their record to an unblemished 5-0 with two wins last weekend.

On Friday night, the Golden Rams beat Western Tech 64-54 in a non-conference matchup, followed by a 79-48 win over Rainy River on Saturday.

In Friday night's win Anoka-Ramsey forced 24 turnovers and pulled in 19 offensive rebounds, which led to 22 more field goal attempts than the Cavaliers.

Anoka-Ramsey jumped out to an 8-0 lead early in the first quarter, and extended the lead to 27-15 early in the second quarter.

The Golden Rams led 40-26 at halftime, and eventually built a 51-34.  Western Tech chipped away but never got closer than ten points.

Three Golden Rams finished in double figures scoring, paced by Mikayla Kanenwisher with 14 points.

Lachantice Baggett scored 11, with Hailey Babcock chipping in ten points to go along with eight rebounds.

On Saturday, the Golden Rams used a big second half to put away Rainy River.

Anoka-Ramsey led by four at halftime, but outscored the Voyageurs 49-22 in the second half.

With the score 42-36 midway thru the third, Anoka-Ramsey went on 14-0 run to end the quarter and continued to pull away thru the rest of the game.

The Golden Rams forced 29 turnovers with 20 steals, and shot 43.3 percent overall compared to 32.8 percent for Rainy River.

Demaiyah Hill scored a game-high 19 points.

Hailey Babcock scored 14 points on 7 of 13 shooting.

Mikayla Kanenwisher scored 13 points on 4 of 7 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds and swiping five steals.

The Golden Rams continue their homestand this weekend, with a 5:30pm game against the Viterbo JV on Friday, December 3rd.
