The Anoka-Ramsey Softball team finished their MCAC Southern Division schedule undefeated on Thursday, May 4, with a pair of resounding wins, 22-0 & 16-0 over the Ridgewater Warriors. The Golden Rams complete their regular season with a 38-9 (16-0 1st Place MCAC Southern Division) record to go along with a current 32-game winning streak.
The Golden Rams pounded out 41 hits to go along with the 38 runs scored. Every Golden Rams player had at least two hits on the day. There were so many offensive highlights, but here a are some that stood out: Lyla Galli and Hailey Babcock each having 6 RBIs in game one, Olivia Thomas hitting a massive 3-run HR (team #55 on the season, 1st in the country and a school record), Molly Gross hitting 3 doubles in game two, and in game two, Kelsey Henninger going 3-3 with 3 RBI's.
The pitching again was fantastic led by Gross and Galli. Another pair of shut-outs (17 team shut-outs in a season – school record).
"I can't say enough good things about this team, and how amazing they have played during this run," said Head Coach Dave Alto. "We have played at such a high level, for so long, it has been incredible to watch. I have never witnessed a team that has excelled in all three phases of the game like this one. I feel that we are ready for the Region Tournament next week playing at the top of our game."
Anoka-Ramsey will be the #1 seed and host the Region 13A Tournament next Thursday & Friday, May 11/12 with the winner of this 4-team regional advancing to the National Tournament. All games are played on the Cambridge campus.
