Softball Continues to Rack Up Wins

The NJCAA #9 ranked Anoka-Ramsey Community College Golden Rams Softball team continued their winning ways yesterday by running their winning streak to 18 games.

They defeated the M-State Spartans by the scores of 18-0 & 8-0. Both games were ended in 5-inngs. During the current Golden Rams winning streak, 12 of these 18 games have been shut outs. Anoka-Ramsey is now 24-9 (4-0 in MCAC Southern Division Play).

Game one saw the Golden Rams score three runs in the 1st inning, and never look back. The inning was highlighted by Lyla Galli's 2-run bomb over the right center field fence. Galli is currently 2nd in the nation with 44 RBI's after accumulating five RBIs in this game.

Also getting five RBIs was Hailey Babcock. Her two RBI double in the 4th inning was her big hit. Emma Bright once again set the table from the lead-off position by going 3-3 with four runs scored and four stolen bases. Bright leads the country with 57 stolen bases.

In the circle, Molly Gross continued to dominate picking up her 9th win of the season by striking out 10 and running her scoreless streak to 42 innings. Gross's 1.64 ERA is tops in the nation for minimum innings pitched.

Game two was not quite the offensive show as the earlier game, but the team did manage nine hits along the way.

Gross was the game's offensive star as she was 3-3 with a massive walk-off 2-run HR in the bottom of the 5th inning to end the game. Babcock also contributed two hits to continue her hot hitting.

A big hit in the bottom of the third inning came from Maggie Kohl as she ripped a bases loaded clearing double with two outs. Galli was also dominant in the circle while only allowing one hit. She also picked up her 9th win of the season.
