On Tuesday, April 20, in the brutal cold, the Golden Rams swept the Lady Jays from Minnesota West 8-0 and 11-3 in MCAC Southern Division action.
Anoka-Ramsey dominated the first game of the doubleheader from the start. Sunny Strait set the Lady Jays down in order the 1st two innings and in the bottom of the 2nd inning the Golden Rams took over. The team scored five times in the bottom of the 2nd inning highlighted by Jennessa Minor's towering 1st career home run that drove in two runs.
Anoka-Ramsey would score one more time in the 3rd and two more times in the 6th inning for the eight-run rule to go into effect.
At the plate, the Golden Rams were led once again by Emma Bright who went 4-4 with two doubles and three stolen bases and Minor who collected two hits and had two RBI's.
Strait picked up her 7th consecutive win and 1st shutout of the season striking out 11 and only walking one.
The nightcap of the doubleheader saw Anoka-Ramsey once again start out quickly and never look back.
A single by Bright, an RBI double by Madison Segler, and a home run by Strait put the Golden Rams up 3-0 after the first inning. MN West closed the lead to 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning when another Segler double and another home run by Strait widened the lead to 6-2.
Then in the bottom of the 6th inning the Golden Rams put the game away. Bright led off with a single followed by an RBI triple by Segler. Strait then knocks in Segler with an RBI double of her own with Brooke Beberg adding another hit. The big blow of the inning next came from Maddie Bottineau who laced a double of the left-center field fence knocking in three runs to end the game.
Bottineau also picked up her 1st collegiate win by only allowing two earned runs, four hits, and striking out nine. Bright, Segler, Strait, and Jennessa Minor all had multi-hit games for Anoka-Ramsey.
