Golden Rams Start 2021 Season

Golden Rams Start 2021 Season

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball Team opened their 2021 season on Tuesday, March 16, after not playing any games for over a year, with a pair of losses to DCTC by the scores of 3-0 and 11-1.

The Golden Rams fought tooth and nail in the 1st game of the doubleheader but couldn't score any runs. The game was tied 0-0 in the top of the 4th when the team loaded the bases with two outs but couldn't score. DCTC scored in the bottom of the inning on a two-out double which proved to be too much for Anoka-Ramsey.

The Golden Rams were limited to three hits. Sunny Strait was the losing pitcher of record but pitched very well in the loss. Strait struck-out six while limiting DCTC to four hits.

The 2nd game saw Anoka-Ramsey play well overall again, but to no avail. DCTC was too much to handle at the plate. Standing out offensively for the Golden Rams was freshman Emma Bright who was 2-2 with three stolen bases and one run scored.

Strait again was the pitcher of record taking the loss. Sunny threw well but tired after throwing a lot of pitches to open the season. DCTC took advantage of Strait tiring to secure the win in five innings.

Next up for the 0-2 Golden Rams is two games next Tuesday, March 23, at the Rosemount Irish Dome. The team is playing in the ever tough Minnesota Classic against Hibbing and Bottineau.
