The Anoka-Ramsey Golden Ram Softball Team had two scrimmages yesterday playing DCTC in the Rosemount Irish Dome and dropped both games of the doubleheader by the scores of 9-1 and 6-3.
Game one saw the Golden Rams face some very tough pitching and were limited to just four hits. The game was 0-0 in the bottom of the 3rd when DCTC loaded the bases with no outs. Next was a line drive double play hit to Hailey Babcock. Then with two outs, DCTC hit a bases clearing double, followed by a homerun which was too much for the Golden Rams to overcome.
Sunny Strait took the loss on the mound but struck out five batters.
Game two was a much tighter game throughout. Anoka-Ramsey went on top in the 1st inning with Emma Bright singling to left, stealing second, advancing to third and scoring on Babcock's ground ball.
The 1-0 lead held up until the bottom of the fourth inning when DCTC scored five runs on three Golden Rams errors.
Down 6-1 in the top of the 7th, Anoka-Ramsey scored two runs with hits from Hallie Chmielewski and Bright followed by a 2 RBI double by Babcock. Anoka-Ramsey ended the game with 10 hits including multi-hit games by Bright and Janelle Labey.
Labey took the loss in her first collegiate start but pitched very effectively scattering seven hits and only giving up 2 earned runs.
Next up for the 0-2 Golden Rams is their 9-game Florida spring trip which begins on Wednesday, March 18 in Titusville, FL.
