The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Soccer team had a hard-fought match with Madison College, but fell 3-2 on a late penalty kick.
Madison got off to a strong start scoring in the 2nd minute before the Golden Rams settled in and Hamze Ali scored an equalizer off a nice assist from Martin Garr in the 41st minute.
Anoka-Ramsey took a 2-1 lead early in the second half after Ali Al-Awamie scored off another Garr assist.
But Madison answered with an equalizer of their own, and followed it up with PK in the 69th minute for the final margin.
"I thought the boys played well especially after being down so early in the game," said head coach Qassim Ilmi. "The match was very competitive from beginning to end and could have gone either way."
Anoka-Ramsey falls to 1-2-1 overall on the season and will travel to Minnesota West on September 29.
