The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team continued their hot shooting from beyond the arc in defeating Western Tech 84-69 on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Rams made 14 of 32 three-pointers (43.8 percent) in the win, after connecting on 18 threes in their previous game.
Anoka-Ramsey opened an early 15-5 lead after a Kevin Schramm layup and looked poised to run away with the game as Malik Williams knocked down three three-pointers in the opening minutes.
But Western Tech would pull within 23-18 with ten minutes to play in the half.
A three from Mahad Haji, followed by a layup and three from Edvonte Copeland pushed the lead to 31-21.
Western Tech answered again with a 10-2 run to pull within 33-31 with 3:15 left in the first half.
A jumper from Chris Morgan, another three from Copeland, followed by a dunk and free throw from Mamadou Ngom would give Anoka-Ramsey a 41-33 edge which they would carry into halftime.
Anoka-Ramsey would steadily continue to build on their lead, eventually going ahead 57-41 with 13:08 left.
Three straight three pointers, two from Williams and one from Haji would extend the lead to 66-47. Then a layup and three from Haji pushed the lead up to 71-48 with 8:32 to play.
Western Tech would get no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
The Golden Rams tied their season high of 27 assists. Coincidentally the other time they recorded 27 assists was in their first matchup with Western Tech.
Williams knocked down 7 of 13 three point attempts on his way to 21 points.
Copeland finished with 15 points.
Haji scored 11 making 3 of 4 from beyond the arc.
Schramm pulled in a team-high ten rebounds.
The #2 Golden Rams improve to 19-2 overall, 7-1 in the MCAC Southern Division.
Anoka-Ramsey will travel to Riverland on Wednesday, February 8 for a 7:00pm tip.
