The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team picked up two more wins to remain undefeated at 11-0 heading into the holiday break.
On Friday evening the Golden Rams were in a hard-fought contest with NJCAA Division I member Bismarck State, and prevailed 96-91.
Anoka-Ramsey trailed 22-20 before a three-pointer from Mahad Haji and a jumper from Zane Lind pushed them ahead 25-22.
After a Bismarck field goal, Ramose Riddley would knock down a jumper followed by a three from Jefferson Belmont to give Anoka-Ramsey a 30-26 lead.
Bismarck State responded and took a 40-39 lead with 4:33 to play in the half.
But another basket by Belmont sparked a 7-0 run and Anoka-Ramsey would lead 50-43 at halftime.
Anoka-Ramsey extended the lead to 58-47 just two minutes into the second half until a Bismarck State run cut the deficit to 61-57.
The Golden Rams would make another pushand eventually go up 73-61 after a layup from Edvonte Copeland.
Anoka-Ramsey still led 80-68 with 8:15 to go but another Bismarck run would cut the Golden Ram lead back down to just three, 80-77.
Anoka-Ramsey maintained a one possession advantage until two Bismarck free throws would tie the game a 91 apiece with 1:27 left.
After going empty on their next offensive possession, the Golden Rams came up with a key defensive stop with 53 seconds left and Mamadou Ngom would connect on two free throws to regain the lead.
Bismarck State missed a jumper with 32 seconds left and Zane Lind hit one of two free throws for a three point cushion.
After a Bismarck State timeout, a three-point attempt was deflected and Malik Williams sealed the game with two more free throws.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 44.7 percent including 12 of 35 from the three-point line.
Copeland finished with 21 points making four shots from beyond the arc.
Ngom scored 19 points and pulled in nine rebounds.
Kevin Schramm scored 12 points to go with eight rebounds.
Morgan scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
On Saturday, the Golden Rams used stifling defense right from the start in routing Dakota County Tech 91-59.
Anoka-Ramsey led 14-8 before going on a 16-2 run to pull ahead 30-10.
The lead was extended to 47-18 after a Kevin Schramm jumper and consecutive threes from Malik Williams.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 50 percent in the first half and held DCTC to just 25 percent.
The Golden Rams continued to extend the lead in the second half, eventually pulling ahead by 40 points with 12:15 left in the game.
Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 51.5 percent overall and made 11 of 24 from beyond the arc.
Edvonte Copeland and Mahad Haji each scored 14 points.
Chris Morgan tallied 13 points to go with ten rebounds.
Williams finished with 12 points making 4 of 8 from deep.
Schramm chipped in nine and Mamadou Ngom and Jefferson Belmont each had eight points.
Anoka-Ramsey will travel to DCTC on January 6-7 for games vs. DCTC (6pm on January 6) and NDSCS (1pm on January 7).
