The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team fell 91-86 to NJCAA Division II Dakota College-Bottineau on Friday afternoon at the Baymont Inn Classic at North Dakota State College of Science.
The Golden Rams squandered a 12 point lead with 10:50 to play in dropping to 1-2 overall this season.
Anoka-Ramsey started slow, failing to convert numerous shots around the basket in falling behind 9-2 in the first four minutes.
But they regrouped to take a 13-12 lead just three minutes later after a Collin Price field goal.
Dakota College would go ahead 19-13, but once again the Golden Rams would respond, using a 8-2 run to tie the score at 21 apiece.
Dakota College would once again take a six point lead, 30-24, but Anoka-Ramsey would outscore the Lumberjacks 16-4 the rest of the half to take a 40-34 lead into the break.
Anoka-Ramsey held Dakota College to just 38.9 percent shooting in the opening period.
The Golden Rams maintained a single-digit lead through much of the half, going up by eight on a three-pointer from Price with 14:06 left.
A three-pointer from Edvonte Copeland would give the Golden Rams a 67-55 lead with 10:50 to play before things started to fall apart.
The Lumberjacks slowly chipped away at the deficit.
With Anoka-Ramsey holding a 71-63 lead, Dakota College embarked on a 7-0 run to pull within one.
Another three from Price pushed the lead back to four, but Dakota College would score the next six points to take a 76-74 lead which they would extend to 85-77 with 1:51 to play in the game.
A Harley Shear field goal pulled Anoka-Ramsey to within four but the Golden Rams would get no closer.
Turnovers in the second half proved costly as the Golden Rams committed 14 (19 total for the game).
Dakota College shot 48.8 percent in the second half and held a 14-11 edge in offensive rebounds.
Anoka-Ramsey was led in scoring by Copeland and Price who each scored 19 points.
Falmata Tula recorded his second straight double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Golden Rams will face North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday at 6:00pm.
