Baseball Struggles in Day Two vs Rainy River

Game 1: Rainy River 5 - Anoka-Ramsey 4

A walk-off left Anoka-Ramsey Community College on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to Rainy River Community College on Sunday. The game was tied at four with Rainy River batting in the bottom of the seventh when John Hudson singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Rainy River got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Anoka-Ramsey tied things up at four, when Trevor Adams singled, driving in two runs.

Emilio Gonzalez was the winning pitcher for Rainy River. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out five and walking one.

Hunter Smith took the loss for the Golden Rams. Smith went six and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out four.

Patrick Perreault led Anoka-Ramsey with two hits in three at bats.

John Michael Gonzales Jr. went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Rainy River in hits.

 

Game 2: Rainy River 12 - Anoka-Ramsey 3

It was a tough day on Sunday for Anoka-Ramsey Community College, who lost 12-3 to Rainy River Community College.

Rainy River fired up the offense in the first inning, when Mateo Sierras doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Rainy River pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third John Michael Gonzales Jr. homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Jean Carlos Rivera homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, Kenyata Diamond hit a solo homer, and Brandon Renick was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

Sierras led the Rainy River to victory on the mound. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out nine and walking one.

Dan Foley took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey. The lefty allowed eight hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out two.

Anoka-Ramsey socked one home run on the day, when Brandon Watkins hit an absolute bomb in the third inning.

Anoka-Ramsey had eight hits in the game. Watkins and Jake Kouri both had three hits to lead Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

Rainy River racked up 15 hits. John Hudson, Rivera, Renick, Orlando Rodriguez, Sierras, and Diamond each racked up multiple hits.
