Game 1: Mesabi 5 - Anoka-Ramsey 1
Anoka-Ramsey Community College fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 5-1 loss to Mesabi Range College on Thursday, despite out-hitting Mesabi in the game.
Mesabi Range College got things started in the second inning when Dawson Tweet doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Ryan Hujanen took the win for Mesabi Range. The hurler allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out ten.
Drake Bakkum took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey. The pitcher surrendered two runs on one hit over two innings, striking out two.
Brandon Watkins went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Golden Rams in hits.
Jackson Bode led Mesabi Range College with two hits in four at bats. Mesabi Range College didn't commit a single error in the field. Tweet had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
Game 2: Anoka-Ramsey 9 - Mesabi 6
Even though Anoka-Ramsey Community College gave up four runs in the third inning, they still defeated Mesabi Range College 9-6 on Thursday.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Anoka-Ramsey Community College collected eight hits and Mesabi Range College had five.
The Golden Rams got things moving in the first inning when two runs scored on Kyler Stuart's singled.
Anoka-Ramsey took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. Hunter Smith singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run and Tyler Traphagen grounded out, scoring another one run.
The Golden Rams scored three runs in the fifth inning led by big at-bats from Stuart, Smith, and Jake Kouri, who all knocking in runs in the inning.
Benji Bruce earned the win for Anoka-Ramsey. The pitcher allowed four hits and six runs, only three of which were earned, over six innings. Brandon Klink threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen to earn his first collegiate save.
