St. Cloud Tech Too Much for Golden Rams

Game 1: St. Cloud Tech 17 - Anoka-Ramsey 1

Anoka-Ramsey Community College fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 17-1 loss to St. Cloud Tech on Thursday. St. Cloud Tech took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

Anoka-Ramsey struggled defensively to contain the high-powered offense of St. Cloud Tech, giving up 17 runs.

In the first inning, St. Cloud Tech got their offense started. Erik Holloman hit a solo homer.

St. Cloud Tech scored nine runs in the second inning. The big inning for the Cyclones came thanks to singles by Anthony Rodriguez and Drew Beier, groundouts by Keith Harden and Rodriguez, a triple by Jackson Peter, by Michael Solis, and an error on a ball put in play by Zeke Hass.

Dillon Stai took the loss for the Golden Rams. The righty allowed four hits and nine runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one.

Gavin Wolff started the game for St. Cloud Tech. Wolff surrendered one run on two hits over three innings, striking out three.  Christian Lessman was credited with the victory for St. Cloud Tech out of relief.

Brandon Watkins and Benji Bruce each collected one hit to lead the Golden Rams.

St. Cloud Tech had nine hits in the game. Marcus Cantu and Peter all managed multiple hits.

 

Game 2: St. Cloud Tech 6 - Anoka-Ramsey 5

Anoka-Ramsey Community College fought back after falling down by four runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 6-5 defeat to St. Cloud Tech on Thursday.

Anoka-Ramsey couldn't keep up with St. Cloud Tech early in the game. St. Cloud Tech scored on a single by Anthony Rodriguez and a fielder's choice by Drew Beier in the second inning.  St. Cloud Tech scored three runs in the sixth inning when Frank Fernandez and Zeke Hass all drove in runs in the frame.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College tallied three runs in the seventh inning in the failed comeback on home run by Brandon Watkins, a home run by Zach Ziesmer, and a double by Elliot Barton.

Hunter Smith took the loss for the Golden Rams. Smith went two innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Grady Fuchs started the game for St. Cloud Tech. The hurler lasted three and a third innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out four.  Sam Boysen got the win for St. Cloud Tech out of relief. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two and walking zero.

The Golden Rams launched three home runs on the day. Watkins had a homer in the third and seventh innings. Ziesmer had a four bagger in the seventh inning.

Anoka-Ramsey tallied ten hits on the day. Watkins and Trevor Adams each managed multiple hits for the Golden Rams.
