The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Women's Basketball team put the clamps on the Ridgewater offense on their way to a 74-46 win in the final regular season game of the season.
With the win the Golden Rams secured the #3 seed in the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament March 3-4. The Golden Rams' opponent will be determined by the result of the Rochester vs. Minnesota West game on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Ram defense was dominant in the first quarter vs Ridgewater as they jumped out lead of 7-0, and 12-2. Ridgewater did not record their first made field goal until one minute to play in the first quarter and the Golden Rams led 16-4 after one.
Jersulam Solomon sparked the offense with seven points in the opening period.
The Warriors cut the deficit back down to ten, but another Solomon three, followed by a Porisch layup, and a Porisch three put Anoka-Ramsey up 41-23.
Two Mckernon free throws early in the third period put Anoka-Ramsey up by 21 points. Ridgewater made a mini-run to cut the deficit to 15 before the start of the third.
If there was any chance of a comeback by the Warriors, Anoka-Ramsey quickly put an end to the threat as the lead ballooned to 23 points after an Amanda Lindsay three with four minutes to play.
The Golden Rams held Ridgewater to just four fourth quarter points in running away with the win.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 44.6 percent for the game compared to 23.4 percent for Ridgewater.
Porisch scored 26 points to go with 12 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
Mckernon scored 23 points making 7 of 15 shots.
Solomon scored 16 points knocking down 7 of 9 from the field.
The Golden Rams end the regular season with a 11-15 overall record, 9-5 in the MCAC Southern Division.
Brackets for the Region XIIIA tournament will be released at the conclusion of Sunday's Rochester vs. Minnesota West game.
